Hi Dave,
Here some pics of my Sidewinder used as a plasma cutter. Feel free to use them on your website!
I am using a Smoothstepper with a laptop to control the machine. My rapids are set to 450 ipm (acc set to 10) without
loosing any steps. I fabricated some custom neoprene vibration dampers to get rid of a midband resonance I had at around 150
ipm. Now all runs perfectly smooth.
My setup uses a Citocut 10i plasma cutter (30 Amp).
The cutter is designed for drag cutting. I built a very rigid
floating sled with 8 ball bearings to have a light but even pressure on the workpiece.
The kerf width is only 0.72 mm...so
you can cut very accurate parts with a very good cut quality and hardly any dross (see pics).
The hand piece is mounted facing to the back to have a better balance....this increases the accuracy of long straight
cuts along the x-axis. Additionally I gain some more usable cut area along the y-axis.
Overall I am very happy with my new toy!
Tell me what you think!
Regards!
Andre
