Hi Dave,

Here some pics of my Sidewinder used as a plasma cutter. Feel free to use them on your website!

I am using a Smoothstepper with a laptop to control the machine. My rapids are set to 450 ipm (acc set to 10) without loosing any steps. I fabricated some custom neoprene vibration dampers to get rid of a midband resonance I had at around 150 ipm. Now all runs perfectly smooth.

My setup uses a Citocut 10i plasma cutter (30 Amp).
The cutter is designed for drag cutting. I built a very rigid floating sled with 8 ball bearings to have a light but even pressure on the workpiece.
The kerf width is only 0.72 mm...so you can cut very accurate parts with a very good cut quality and hardly any dross (see pics).

The hand piece is mounted facing to the back to have a better balance....this increases the accuracy of long straight cuts along the x-axis. Additionally I gain some more usable cut area along the y-axis.

Overall I am very happy with my new toy!
Tell me what you think!

Regards!
Andre

Dave,
You sure can use my comments any time you want. First Sidewinder CNC is running perfectly after better than 10,000 pieces in a year of daily operation and just as accurate as the first piece when it was laid out and cut. Excellent machine, easy to maintain, excellent product results and would recommend it to anyone who needs a reliable well built CNC router machine.
Thats why I purchased a second one and will be back for additional units as my company production line grows.
Respectfully,
